Goodwill is one of my favorite places to go. I have found so many treasures there, ones that are perfect just the way they are, and ones that I like to add my own personal touch to.
My mom had picked up this mirror a few months from a local Goodwill in Connecticut. The original price was $20, but since it had a blue color sticker and the color of the week was blue, it was an extra 50% off. All in all, this mirror cost her $10, not a bad deal at all.
The Before
This had been sitting in our garage until this morning, and with mom begging me to fix it up, I finally got the spray paint. I bought Rust-oleum Painter's touch 2X Ultra Cover paint and Primer in flat white. I used the entire can for this mirror, luckily it was just enough.
First off, I wiped off the mirror because it had accumulated dust sitting in the garage. I then sanded the mirror to rough it up so that the paint would stick to it. It was very difficult to get in to all of the little areas of the mirror with the sandpaper, so I did the best I could
I laid down some shopping bags so that I wouldn't get paint on the grass

Sanding took a while, but was completely necessary so that the paint would stick. I was also careful not to accidentally scratch the mirror with the sandpaper.
Next, I taped some newspaper to this mirror with painters tape so that I wound't spray any paint on the glass. And then it was all set for painting!
I waited for it to dry (about an hour since it was fast drying paint) and then took a lighter (less coarse) sandpaper and roughed up the edges to give it a shabby chic look. After it was distressed to my liking, I shook it off and wiped off the excess paint that was sanded off.
I took it inside and found the perfect place for it. Then I mounted it and left it to do the rest of the talking!
Ta-Da!!!
